This cannon has sat in the corner of Altro Park for as long as I can remember. It's significance is unknown (to me) as there is no plaque or commemorative. I believe it is of WWII origin, but I'm no expert.
It was a favorite place for kids over the years, offering much cooler climbing than ordinary monkey bars. Many hours were spent just sitting on it hanging out. It's near the end of the skating rink, which was much more popular in the past than it is now, with indoor rinks available year-round.
There is, allegedly, a geocache hidden in/on it somehwere, although I've never seen it. I really don't want to disturb it, if it is anyway.
