They’re loud and raucus. They tell it like it is. They Hit Hard or Go Home. Their music is called “Brick-throwin’ Celtic Rock” They’re hard-drinkin’, fun-lovin, sons of South Buffalo and so are their fans. Their music reflects their point of view as working-class musicians. Their stories are those of life, love lost and injustice, yet are hopeful and exciting. Read the rest of this entry »

I met Dali’s Ghost at their CD Release Party at New World Records. Due to a mix-up over the time of the show, I was too late to record them live, but we hung out afterwards and chatted a bit for an interview. There are also some photos in the gallery. I hope to catch one of their shows in the future and revisit them in another podcast.
Dali’s Ghost is three musicians from Springville, Justin Smith, Tyler Skelton and Ken Riley with the addition of their drummer Ian Belknap from Buffalo.
Playing a mixture of musical styles of funk, psychedelic, folk, jazz, and rock, Dali’s Ghost comes up with their own unique sound, They’re not afraid to try something unusual, like an electric sitar to acheive this. Read the rest of this entry »

Recorded at the Sportsmans Tavern, Buffalo 3-28-2007
Someone I had really wanted to feature in the podcast was Doug Yeomans, but I hadn’t gotten around to asking him about it until recently. Happily, he agreed and we got together to record the Low Blue Flame show at the Sportsmens.
Probably the first place many people heard of Doug and something we mention in the interview, was his winning of the North American Guitar Competition in 2001. Recorded at the Mohawk Place March 16, 2007
The Waves were the third band of the night at the St. Patricks eve triple bill. Before this, I hadn’t really heard much
about them.
I had seen their MySpace page, and heard a couple songs ther and I liked them, but hadn’t seen them playing a lot of gigs. Read the rest of this entry »

Recorded March 16, 2007 at Mohawk Place, Buffalo NY
I heard about Floozie about a year ago and have been wanting to hear them for quite a while. When the opportunity came up to do this podcast at Mohawk Place, it was mainly Floozie that got me to do it. The fact that it was a
triple bill with two other great bands who also were amenable to a podcast was just serendipity. Read the rest of this entry »
