Another season of AllWNYRadio House Parties is now history. I’m proud to say I made all four this year.

Highlights were:

The Hoax was a hoax. No-show. Did they get lost? Break down on the road? Forget? No word. But the rest of the show was up to the job of making up for it. Serenity Falls played early and were great. Josh Smith the Rated-R Rock Star was back for an encore performance and was as sharp as ever. The guys from Fresh Guac were awesome and of course, our home-town favs Lowertown Trio rocked the House with a little help from Rick Rhodes of the Spy Guys TV.

The party went on well after dark. From what I hear, it went on well after I left too!

As always, it was the people that made it such fun. Scott and his family for hosting it. J Ryan K and Scott of the Theives Guild who make it sound great. And all the people who were there - Fox from Elipsus, Rick Rhodes of Spy Guys TV, Thumb To The Eye and Noah of Noah’s Ark, Dennis and Andy of Magictonez, Bill and his wife, who never seem to miss a house party, Paulie from The Swingin’ Diamonds who rocked the HP7, and on and on. If I forgot to mention you, or forgot your name, it’s not just because I’m terrible with names, it’s because there were so many people there.

The season started out on a bit of a downer. The hoped-for summer concert series at the Marina fizzled. Scott couldn’t get any backers to cover the insurance needed. So the House Parties were it. Semi-secret, but open to anyone, it was a wonder they weren’t bigger, especially when the newspaper leaked the address… But they weren’t too big. They were pretty much the right size and never anything other than a great time.

For those in-the-know, it was a great summer. Hopefully, we’ll see you next year at whatever form House Party 9 takes on…
