I’m glad to have had the opportunity to meet and record Lenny Revell. He’s now living in NYC, so chances to meet him here are scarce now.

I first heard of him through the Spy Guys Talent TV show. Rick Rhodes and Norm Skulski are two of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Besides that, their goal, their passion is to help young talented people succeed. Their home-grown internet and cable show is fed by a series of talent searches they hold all over WNY. And they get a lot of talent.

Lenny Revell was a winner of several of their competitions. I saw him on their web page and at the talent show I went to. As I tell in the podcast, he was about to leave for New York City and I had one chance to see him play before he left. I made sure I could get to it.

Lenny has also played at numerous events and places around Buffalo in the past. It’s still a mystery to me why I hadn’t heard of him before. But better late than never.

He’s already had some successes, with his song, Who Am I? being used to promote the recent Spiderman movie and a new CD out. But his move to the Big Apple is a step up the career ladder, hopefully, and from the number of shows he’s got booked, it looks like he’s keeping pretty busy. I know that he’s a highly motivated and sensible young man who will succeed. In New York he’ll have so many more opportunities to meet the right people, I’ll be surprised if we don’t see him on Letterman or Conan as a musical guest before long!

This is what Lenny’s MySpace page says about him:

Lenny Revell’s musical roots started in Buffalo, NY where at the age of nine, he started piano lessons. At sixteen he wrote his first song, and at nineteen, started singing lessons. He began playing various piano recitals in nursing homes, churches, and institutions in the wny area. In his late teens, he started playing Lewiston Art Fest in Western New York for many years as well as the Canal Fest of the Tonawandas, NY for the past two years where he was brandished as the “next Elton John”.
Many other cities followed with appearances in Branson, MO, and a tv appearance in Nashville, TN, and opening up a model show in Toronto, as well as many of the more popular piano bars and clubs in the NYC circuit including “Don’t Tell Mamas”, “Rosa’s Turn”, George Keeley’s, The Duplex, and many more.
He has also acted in two operas within the Greater Buffalo Opera Company under world renowned opera director Gary Burgess: Carmen and The Flying Dutchman, and modeled for Rova in NYC.
Lenny’s discovery of Elton John was at the age of eighteen, and the turning point of his life. Now with a focal point to shoot for, he devoted his energies to writing piano rock songs influenced by Elton’s signature style.
More artist’s influences started to come to the forefront: The Beatles, Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Vanessa Carlton, Tori Amos, Coldplay, etc.
Now with a new album entitled ‘Lessons’, Lenny plans to unveil a new charasmatic performer in the singer-songwriter genre of rock.
Aside from his musical accomplishments, Lenny is also into nutrition, alternative medicine, eastern philosophy, and a certified instructor in Bruce Lee’s art of Jeet Kune Do under Sifu Shane Dixon.
