Podcast 62 - Johnny Nobody
Johnny Nobody at the Tralf 5/25/2007
Johnny Nobody is the last of the three bands I met and recorded at the Tralf show on May 25th.
I had heard of them quite a while ago, and even met band member Andrew Vaeth, as part of The Old Sweethearts. But until this night I hadn’t seen them play.
In the band are Andrew, Colin Roberts and Jay White. I hate categorizing bands to any genre, especially as to me, they all blur the lines between styles at times and I don’t like to overthink it all. So to me a lot of bands are just “rock.” Johnny Nobody plays a harder rock than the Old Sweethearts, who are more to the country/americana side of things and there I go overthinking it all. Let’s just say that they were a good fit with Handsome Jack, who they followed.
Of course, the connection between all three bands this evening was they all have members from Lockport NY, my home. I didn’t know that until I got there, nor do I think it was set up that way - it wasn’t billed as “Lockport Night at the Tralf” or anything like that, but it was a cool coincidence and there were a lot of people there from that town.
