Video about Rob Lynch

The latest addition to my links to music video has just been added. If you haven’t noticed the Music Video section on the sidebar, check it out. Every one is a Buffalo music story in itself.

The Rob Lynch one comes from an article about him in Buffalo Rising. Incidentally, I happen to think BR is as important a read as your daily paper. It’s always that informative.

But, I really enjoyed the article about Rob. I’ve known him for a while from my travels in podcast-land, and I had to smile as it described him. I couldn’t help but picture him at his drums, in his own zone, with a smile on his face, totally immersed in the music.

The music in the video is from his own solo CD, “Gift Songs From A Lovely, Puzzling Sea” which he gifted me with shortly after it came out. It’s a special music. Something you have to listen to in the right mood, not just throw on as background.

Rob is one of those ubiquitous musicians that I never know where I’ll run into him. He plays drums in John and Mary and the Valkyries, (rock) Mark Winsick’s band, (blues) and in Doug Yeomans’ bluegrass group. I’ve probably missed some other project as well.

He was also runner-up in Buffalo Spree’s Best of Western New York’s Best Instrumentalist category. The first place winner? None other than Jackdaw’s Dave Moore! In fact, the whole music section is full of familiar names from this podcast: Brian Wheat, Noa Bursie, Babik, The Old Sweethearts, and Dee Adams.

Check those articles out. The Buffalo Rising article, especially!
