The latest addition to my links to music video has just been added. If you haven’t noticed the Music Video section on the sidebar, check it out. Every one is a Buffalo music story in itself.
The Rob Lynch one comes from an article about him in Buffalo Rising. Incidentally, I happen to think BR is as important a read as your daily paper. It’s always that informative.
But, I really enjoyed the article about Rob. I’ve known him for a while from my travels in podcast-land, and I had to smile as it described him. I couldn’t help but picture him at his drums, in his own zone, with a smile on his face, totally immersed in the music. Read the rest of this entry »
No word at all from the hosting company as to what happened, but I have a feeling I was just one of many people with problems. Things came back and started working today and I set the domain back to the server. I hope nothing was lost.
I just hate not knowing, though. The least they could do is send an email out to let us know they have it under control. I know equipment fails sometimes. That’s forgivable, but poor communications isn’t.
I should have put up a podcast this week. I have a couple still waiting to go and I’ll get one done shortly.
I spent the past two weeks - except for the weekend at the Great Blue Heron - building a new deck. It’s 95% finished now and what’s left I can complete at my leisure.
Building the deck was hard work. I’m glad I don’t do it for a living. On many days, I worked about four hours before I quit and took a nap. I finally got up to a full day near the end. But I had no energy left to do much else, not even a podcast. But we got it done in time for a scheduled party in honor of my daughter’s graduation.
I did sneak out last week and catch The Kissers show at the Mohawk Place. They’ll be back later this summer for the Caz Park South Buffalo Irish Feis, so the photos I took are a taste of whats to come.
I went to the Great Blue Heron Music Festival once again. This was my second year to do so and I again camped there for the weekend. If you’ve never gone to anything like this, you should, at least once, because it’s an experience you’ll never forget. It’s total immersion in a different world, a place where everyone is friendly and only the simplest of rules, the Golden Rule, for instance, matter.
I’ll comment on things, bands mostly, as music is why I go there, in random order. I’ll also keep each topic short. No sense belaboring any one point.
Also, I took pictures. Over a thousand of them. It pretty much tells most of the story that way and I’m uploading them a little at a time to the Gallery. Read the rest of this entry »
Dee and the Housecats at The Sportsmens Tavern June 1, 2007
Wow, did I get carried away with this show. Where else can you hear 12 tracks and an interview in an hour?
I almost got confused and put this podcast out as number 62, but that was last weeks’ show number. I can’t believe there have been that many shows!
As I say in the podcast, I jumped at the chance to put out a podcast of The Housecats because it was time. It was actually overdue. Read the rest of this entry »
I have to apologize for being really behind in updating the calendar. I’ve kept up with the emails, but those venues where I usually glean gig information from their web sites or calendars, are behind. And it’s already the 10th of the month!
But that goes to show, while I happily fill in the calendar from various venues web sites, the sure-fire way to get your bands, or your venues’ dates listed is to send them to me in an email. Don’t send me tonight’s gig - your fans already have made their plans for the day - send them at least a week ahead so we all can make it!
Why am I so behind? Well. life gets in the way sometimes. I’ve had a family member graduate from High School, gone to the Blue Heron Music Festival for the weekend, been building a deck, and on and on. It’s a good thing I’m retired, I wouldn’t have time for work…
