Dali’s Ghost CD Release - Podcast 55

Dali's Ghost - electric sitarI met Dali’s Ghost at their CD Release Party at New World Records. Due to a mix-up over the time of the show, I was too late to record them live, but we hung out afterwards and chatted a bit for an interview. There are also some photos in the gallery. I hope to catch one of their shows in the future and revisit them in another podcast.

Dali’s Ghost is three musicians from Springville, Justin Smith, Tyler Skelton and Ken Riley with the addition of their drummer Ian Belknap from Buffalo.

Playing a mixture of musical styles of funk, psychedelic, folk, jazz, and rock, Dali’s Ghost comes up with their own unique sound, They’re not afraid to try something unusual, like an electric sitar to acheive this.

They won the Artvoice BOOM (Best Of Original Music) contest last November and used that as a stepping stone to putting out their own CD. They recorded at Trackmaster Studios and finished up at Soundscape Studio with Jimmy Calabrese.

They are now planning to play larger gigs and build their reputation as a band. One of their goals is to appear at Thursday At The Square.

With summer and the outdoor concert scene right around the corner, look to hear more from Dali’s Ghost.

Dali’s Ghost will be playing at Thursday at the Square, opening for Son Volt, on June 7th, 2007. This should be a great chance to see these guys playing on a full stage and sound system. It will be a good show and it’s free!
