Video from the Vores and friends
I received an email with the link to this cool, if not eeriely troubling, video on YouTube. I don’t know where it took place, but the band is mostly The Vores, and I think I saw Guillermo Isquidero on mando, as well. I assume the intent of the email was to dare me to post it!
Well, here it is!
Two artists Gary Nickard and Reinhard Reitzenstein destroy an upright and a baby grand piano with axes and other implements of destruction, backed by a punk band, the core of which is made up of The Vores. This peice is a tribute to the fluxus movement as well as an attempt to dismantle the euro-centric hegemony of the equal tempered tuning system.
Seems like the upright held up pretty well, at first. The baby grand went down quickly, as soon as it’s legs were taken out from under it. But, eventually, they both met the same fate, being reduced to piles of rubble. As a final insult, they push the upright over onto the shards of the baby G.
It kind of left me wishing for a can of lighter fluid and a match, ala Jimmy Hendrix…
