Podcast 53 – The Transonics
This is the third podcast form the March 16th triple-bill show at the Mohawk Place. Our featured band, The Transonics are a Buffalo favorite. We recorded the set and this is the result.
I’m a little dissappointed in the audio. The instruments are a little weak in the mix. I’m probably getting pickier as I do this longer, but I wish they were more pronounced. I played a lot with the mix, but you can’t get what isn’t there out… The other two shows weren’t as bad even though they were recorded off the same board feed. I’m learning that a board mix can be great or lousy and it doesn’t really mean they gave you a ‘bad’ feed, it just means what they were doing was different than what I needed. Often, the amps are so loud on their own, they don’t need a lot of help from the PA system and they are low in the mix. From now on, I’ll always have at least a couple live mics as a back-up.
Here’s a description form their web page:
The Transonics are four individual destinies brought together by the final ringing of Pete Townshend’s guitar at the end of Miles and Miles. The four followed this beacon to a place where guitar and melody were worshipped as they should be. They formed The Transonics for no other reason than they had no choice, and immediately set to writing some of the finest rock music ever put to tape.
