Sean McGaughey – Podcamp Toronto – Podcast 48
Photo: Sean McGaughey at the Podcamp festivities at C’Est What
This is the second of three shows I’m going to be doing based on my experience at Podcamp Toronto. This week, we hear Sean McGaughey as he plays at C’Est What for the podcamp’s Saturday night social get-together. He was the opening act and kicked things off in style.
I also shared a table with Sean for a good part of the evening and had a very enjoyable time. He’s quite a interesting fellow and we had lots in common to talk about. He also goes by Ductape Guy, which you will understand after you listen to the second-last song in the show! He described himself as a “folk-singer, children’s entertainer, writer of sensitive, humorous and satirical songs” in the registration page for the podcamp.
Introducing Sean as MC’s for the evening were Steve “Snowball” Seylor and Mike “Birdman” Dodd of the This Week In Geek Podcast. You’ll hear more than a little of them in the show as well.
Here’s the show notes:
Intro – Mike and Steve
The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be (live, with intro by Sean)
For The Sake Of The Song (live)
Borrowed Land (live)
Interview with Sean – pt 1
It’s A Game (from the CD For The Sake Of The Song)
Interview – pt 2
Piece Of Paradise (from CD)
Interview – pt 3
No Matter What Your Age Is (from CD)
Alone Without A Song (live)
Duct Tape Song (live)
The Underwear Song (live)
(I’m guessing the names of the last three songs because they are not on Sean’s CD, or should I say I’m making up names for them , either way they are not necessarily “official” names.)
Some podcamp interviews and podcast shout-outs:
Vergel Evans – LX7 Podcast
Steve Saylor – This Week In Geek
Sassy Sonya Buyting – Sassy Science Podcast
Ryan Wiseman – Sounds Sustainable Podcast
Mitch Joel – Six Pixels of Separation – The Twist Image Podcast
Mark Beaudreau – The Rock and Roll Report
Outro – more Steve and Mike

Hi Doc:
Thanks so much for featuring me on your show. It’s quite a rush. Since podcamp, I’ve been quite busy. I have been setting up a new domain at http://ductapguy.net. I have also recorded several episodes for a podcast called, “For the Sake of the Song, Conversations with Song”. Each episode I will have a different guest to talk about songwriting and play a few songs. The first episode with Steve Porter is now available. Yesterday I recorded a show with Jay Moonah of Uncle Seth which I will be releasing in the near future.
Thanks again for the support.
