Uncle Seth - Podcamp Toronto - Podcast 47

Here’s the first of several podcasts featuring music I recorded while I was at Podcamp Toronto.

Meet Uncle Seth, not a person, but a band. We’ve heard their music before on this podcast in #32 and #33 as well as way back in #4.5 and as recently as the short podcast from my hotel in Toronto.

Their song “To Be An Angel” was featured on CBC Radio One’s Bandwidth show and hit number one on the Podsafe Music Network for September 2006. Uncle Seth also broke new ground when the band performed virtually, in the online world Second Life.

They were one of the three acts that played at the podcamp’s Saturday night party at C’Est What, a Toronto restaurant. We’ll here the other two, +nurse and Sean McGaughey (aka Ductapeguy) in future shows.

Uncle Seth is vocalist Tara Thompson, Jay Moonah on Bass, harmonica and vocals, drummer Chris Patheiger. They’ve recently filled out the band with two guitar players, Mike Freedman and Blake Papsin. Blake also wowed us with his lap steel and mandolin playing at C’Est What.

Several of the songs in the podcast were new, unreleased tracks and I do not have title information for them. I’m hoping to get it eventually (check back in these show notes) but for now the first three and last track in the podcast are unnamed.

I put this episode out a little early because I will be busy this weekend from Thursday until late Saturday.

Some of you may have read or heard me talk about my work with the Warlocks Robotics team. This weekend is our first official competition and we will be putting the robot to the test against other teams this weekend.

I’ll be back next week, and then the following weekend we do it again in Cleveland. If we do really well, we may even end up going to nationals in Atlanta later.

So expect a couple early episodes as I struggle to keep them coming even though I have a life! (other than podcasting)
