Looking for Musicians for this Podcast

I apologize again for no podcast this week. Thankfully, the robotics team I have been working with as an advisor/mentor is now finished (well, we’re never really finished, we just are out of time) building the robot and are shipping it off to the first competition.
That means, I will be back to podcasting and looking forward to getting out and recording shows again.
I’ve usually gotten by with approaching bands and setting up a podcast before their shows. (Sometimes just before their shows, Like minutes before
) And it’s worked out well so far. But the best sessions are those where the musician really understands what I am doing and buys into the whole podcast thing.
So let’s try this in reverse. Do you really want to be in a podcast about local, original music? Would your fans like to be able to hear some of your music in a live setting? Are you sitting there saying “Why doesn’t that Doc Wu guy call us? We’re just as good as …. insert band name here” If that’s you, I want to hear from you.
I’ll admit, my process for choosing podcast subjects is less than scientific. Personal preferences are a large part of it, as well as convenience. Certain days, certain places are easier for me to work with. A number of local venues have tolerated my presence and even made me welcome. That makes things easier for me to work there.
But interest from a band or musician in doing a podcast, would greatly increase my comfort level with a different place or time. So feel free to contact me if you are interested. The best way to contact me is email,
but I can also often be reached by phone at 716-628-5041.
As always, the usual limitations are 1. Original music, so that you can grant me permission to use it. 2. Local, somewhere in WNY within driving distance. I like live shows, but I’ll work with whatever you want, practice sessions, studio work, whatever you want to do. 3. In good taste, I’m not prudish about lyrics or anything, but I don’t want to run out of a club with my ears bleeding, either. It has to appeal to my listeners. I try to cover a broad spectrum of styles, so that’s not usually a problem. (If you think I shy away from the weird, check out my Podcast #36!) But mostly, I’m looking for good music.
Before we know it, the summer outdoor concert season will be here, and I’ll be busy, so now is a good time to get my attention. If you’ve got a new CD release and want a little extra buzz to go with it, maybe a podcast is just the thing. I can’t promise to be available any particular date, but I am now retired and only have to work around my own family commitments.
