No show this week

I’m sorry to disappoint you all, but I just didn’t have time to get a show out in time for the weekend. Hopefully, I’ll get one out early this week.

It finally snowed, and I celebrated by getting out to ski - not once but three times this week. With the weather we’ve had this year, you’ve got to strike when the iron is hot and the snow is on the ground. I’ll be going to Vermont in a few weeks and really needed to get out and get in shape.

I heard on the radio some talk about some study that rated January 22nd and the days around it as the most depressing time of the year. Bills come due after Christmas, New Years’ resolutions broken already, short days and cold nights, etc. I believe it. I wonder what the suicide rate is for this week?

Anyway, I was driving to Ellicottville in a daze listening to the announcer explain that and wondering if I even felt like skiing. I’d been feeling tired and cranky for at least a week. The only good thing going on has been working with the Robotics Team. I’d strained my back lifting a toolbox there a week prior and had back pain and shooting pains in my leg ever since. They were going away, but too slowly.

Well, one night of skiing, fresh air and some exercise and the relief was night and day. The back pain was gone - not a trace and I felt great! So, I just couldn’t stand another all-nighter putting out a podcast when I had to spend a fair amount of time with the team. I meant to get to it at the end of the week, but when Friday was the only chance to take my daughter out for a day snowboarding and I had a ski-club outing on Saturday, that evaporated.

So I’m behind schedule, but not gone. Thanks for your patience!
