Podcast 41 – Podsafe Christmas 2006

Snow Emergency - Pale Beneath The BlueI don’t have much (or any) local Christmas music, so this is becoming an annual tradition: the Podsafe Music Christmas Show!

I picked out a few Christmas songs from the Podsafe Music Network, an internet repository of music that has been cleared for use in podcasts by the artists. It’s quite good! I hope you like it. Put it on while you wrap some presents or sip egg nog by the fireplace and get in a Merry Christmas mood!

[I've split this podcast into two parts, each about 45 minutes each. Be sure to listen to both! If you download the podcast, download the second part while you're listening to the first.]

Part 1

Lee Harris & The Tijuana Trumpets – Greensleeves

For the last 5 or 6 years, Lee Harris and his friends have been making Christmas CD’s to give away as gifts over the holidays.

Andy Buscemi – Santa Story 06
Andrew Buscemi is a music educator at Alden Central Schools near Buffalo NY. He also had a podcast called Another Tech Podcast but the server seemed to be gone when I tried to check it out. Not much information at his website, which is too bad as he’s the only local participant in this podcast.

Poorpete – Happy Belated Christmas!
What is in a Bio? I am not my past. I am my music. Enjoy my music.

Thehipcola – Sleigh Ride
thehipcola. music that drives and grooves. music that takes you somewhere.

Jill Parr is a well known, well traveled artist in Contemporary Christian Music having generated five nationally charting singles on her two releases. New record releasing in early 06.

Jimmie Bratcher – 1941
The Blues are all about the soul of a man. Who better to play the blues than a man who lost it all only to regain it again? Thats what The Reverend Jimmie Bratcher is about! A man who gave up his love of the blues for a higher calling, only to have the blues come back to him as his higher calling 20 years later. A boy who went to Memphis to follow a dream that over 25 years later is realized every time he steps on the stage in blues clubs like Club Isaac Hayes in Memphis or The Ground Zero in Clarksdale Mississippi.

Jimmie Bratcher – Bell Carol Blue

Richard Taylor – Midnight’s Almost Here
Richard Taylor’s rambling guitarwork is an edgy rhythmic style that shakes like a railroad car careening off the tracks. Perfectly crafted guitar hooks, infectious bluesy licks, with a lot of care-free attitude. Roots Rock at it’s primal best. With Tim Pruitt on lead guitar, Joe Goltz on Bass.
Richard is also the host of Roots Rock Radio, one of the finest Roots-rock/Americana podcasts in the world!

    Hi there,

I looked for the latest yesterday right after I got notification that you’d chosen “Merry Christmas, Angel” for your podcast, but it hadn’t gone up yet. Just so you know I wanted to thank you yesterday! :-)

Little did I suspect that this song, which I wrote in just two hours as an “I’ll miss you” message to my loved ones (whom I won’t see again this year) would do as well as it has. It came in the PMC Top Ten last week (at #6) to my great shock. But that’s because podcasters like you have taken the time to listen to the song and have chosen to play it. So, I’m very, very grateful to you, and I hope you’ll check back after the holidays for some fresh new tunes I plan on having produced after the first of the year.

Have a Great Holiday…and “May this be the year your wishes all come true.”

    Love,

    Vittoria
