All WNY Radio House Party III

Amnesty Box plays HPIIIThis Sunday was the third All WNY Radio House Party and of course, I went to it. Scott Leffler is building his internet radio station into a real force for promoting the local music scene. Each one of these events gets better.

We’ve been collaborating – I think it could be called that, actually we just keep meeting bands and sharing notes on who we meet – and seem to end up working with a lot of the same bands.

I had a really bad week. A week from hell, actually, at work, so I kind of backed off getting out to shows for a week or so. Thanks to Scott bringing in three that acts I really wanted to meet, I was able to get some podcasting done right close to home.

The rain that pelted some areas with hail and high winds missed us, just a gentle rain that lasted a half hour or so. It threatened to rain for a couple hours, but mostly went south of us. It was a good light show watching the lightning, though. But it didn’t dampen the spirits of the House Party folks!

Three acts were featured. First Chris Sax, who I had heard good things about and met at an earlier AllWNYRadio house party, played a set. He is a solo acoustic act and writes some great songs.

Then there was Under New Management. Mary and Megan do a duo act, just acoustic guitars and some great harmony.

I think I’ll probably put a podcast together with Under New Management and Chris Sax together. They will fit a more mellow show and probably have just the right amount of materal from each.

Finally, the main act, Amnesty Box played. They are a four-piece hard rock/hard core band and they’ve been tearing up the club scene around Buffalo. They are definately a crowd-pleaser and I’ll be putting out a podcast from their show as well.

All three acts gave me some great interviews and I have some other sound bites from the event, so it should be interesting. I’m ahead of things as far as recorded material, so it may be three or four weeks before I get to them, but they’re all keepers and will make great listening!
