Podcast #17: Greg Klyma live at Broadway Joes
Buffalo-raised Greg Klyma returned to his hometown this Friday to support his new CD, Driver. He played at Broadway Joe’s and his friends and fans showed up to see him play. Now based in Austin, Texas, he still has many friends and strong ties to WNY.
Greg Klyma is a folksinger, songwriter, storyteller, balladeer, minstrel, comedian, musician and social comentator.
His music is both entertaining and thought-provoking and is presented in a folksy down-home way that’s so rare these days.
I heard of Greg and his music several years ago while he was based in Buffalo and have always wanted to see him play.
I got my chance finally on Good Friday this past week and recorded the show for this podcast.

He wanted this CD to have a full band sound and enlisted the help of a bunch of musicians, many of them names I know from the Buffalo area. If you heard my podcast two weeks ago featuring Flatbed, you heard Joelle Labert who sang backing vocals on the two songs from the CD in this podcast. John Brady, (Black Cat Blues Band, John Brady Trio) co-produced and played on the CD. Also on the CD was Buffalo legend Jim Whitford. Most of the tracks were recorded at Sessions Studio right next door to the Sportsmans Tavern. Dwane Hall did most of the engineering. So, all in all a lot of Buffalo talent went into this CD!
