Podcast #16 - Glengarry Bhoys

Miranda and Ewan of Glengarry BhoysThis week I travel to the Buffalo Icon to see the Glengarry Bhoys play.

I’ve never been to the Icon before, but it’s just down the street from the Mohawk Place, so it’s easy to find. I arrived early and got a parking spot in their lot.

As I am getting out of the car, I see Nate from McCarthyizm by the door. I almost forgot they were the opening band. Since the gig was postponed, I hadn’t seen any mention of an opening band, so I had assumed they weren’t playing the new date. You know what they say about assumptions. I was glad to see them there to and it was like old times talking with the guys from McCarthyizm.

I was way early. That’s by design. To get in and size up the room and the best way to record, it’s best to get there early. The Glengarry Bhoys tour bus was parked out front on the street. After taking to the sound guy at the Icon, I went out to the bus and knocked. Graham answered and invited me in. We chatted and had a very enjoyable time and I got a good interview. Actually, I got a great interview, but once again, forgot to hit the record button and missed it. At least I checked and we did take two successfully, but it wasn’t as good the second time around.

Here’s the lineup for the podcast:

[...] Some live music and interviews from only last month can be heard on Buffalo Live Music Podcast. The first ‘title unknown’ is She Moved Through the Fair, with wonderful new member Miranda Mulholland on vocals, which then moves into Lanigan’s Ball. If the Bhoys played ‘Celtic Rock’ that would’ve been The Belfast Child. [...]

    Hello,
The tune after “She Moved through the Fair” is “Brian Boru’s March”, not Lannigan’s ball. Brian Boru was the last king of Ireland. It’s one of my favorite tunes.
    Take care,
    Sean
