Podcast #15: Red and Roxy
The first part of the podcast this week is the Red & Roxy show I caught last weekend with Flatbed at the Mohawk Place on March 25, 2006.
Red & Roxy are an acoustic duo, a husband and wife team, that writes their own material. It’s a very folk-pop-ish style of music that’s really easy to listen to. They also have help on percussion in the form of a big bear of a man called Gentle Tom. He plays an assortment of instruments, from bongos, congas, djembe to bodhran. He was there when I came in the ‘Hawk, and was asking me about the podcast before I even got my bearings. I didn’t realise at the time he was part of the group, or I would have gotten to know him better.
The show and their chatter between songs seemed so interesting and natural, that as I was editing the show, I decided to just let it run and only take out dead spots. You’ll hear their show as it happened, live.
I don’t have a song list, but they do give the names of many of their songs as they introduce them.

AllWNYMusic - allwnymusic.com - I also talk a little about the All WNY Music kickoff concert this past weekend. They are a streaming audio internet radio station that features locall WNY music. The stream broadcast has been in beta tests and will be starting soon.
